About Us

The club was formed in 2007 and has made good progress in the intervening time with in excess of a 100 people having taking advantage of its facilities and a further 1,000 ‘Having a Go’ at Fetes and Fairs. The equipment required for current members and new comers has been built up over this period and with our 2 qualified coaches and 2 leaders we are in a good position to service the needs of all interested parties.

Through our ‘Have a Go’ sessions at Fetes and Galas, and our 4 week long beginners courses we aim to provide an opportunity to people of all ages and abilities to get involved with this fascinating and exciting sport.

We are based at Hall Farm in the village of Whepstead a few miles south of Bury St Edmunds (See map below) and we are indebted to the land owner for allowing us to use his land for outdoor temporary shooting while fund raising and building for an alternative permanent facility is being progressed, as well as a barn for indoor winter shooting.

The club serves a large area around Bury St. Edmunds with the nearest alternatives being in Ely, Stowmarket, Sudbury or Haverhill. The number of clubs in Suffolk are very few and far between which is why the club has to be affiliated to Essex County Archery Association, there being insufficient clubs in Suffolk to form our own county association.
